While many people at Millennium have been focusing on the sports currently in season, one sport that isn’t getting much attention is baseball. However, many people don’t realize the level of preparation required before the season starts. Each player has their own way of training and preparing for the season. According to senior outfielder Jason Bagliore, training for the season begins “by working out a lot in the gym with the team and getting a lot of reps in the batting cages out in Long Island with a travel team on my own.”

Many seniors on the team are experiencing the college process while also focusing on baseball. When asked if the fact that he had gotten into college for baseball at Post University stressed him or motivated him to perform better, senior Evan Sinclair said, “only motivated, because I don’t have to worry about college, and I can just focus on school and getting myself as good as I can be.”

However, it is not only players that need to prepare for the season. Coaching is always a large factor in a successful season. Brian Friedman, coach of the baseball team, has been preparing himself and his players for a decent amount of time already. “I think the best way to prepare for a tough season is to always respect your opponents. No game is an easy one, and we need to train with that in mind,” he said.

According to players, starting preparations for the season has many upsides and can lead to a successful upcoming season. The Millennium players are confident. As Bagliore put it, “I think that we have the most talented team we have ever had, and I think the rest of the PSAL should be worried about us.”
