MBHS To Celebrate NY Cares Day

MBHS To Celebrate NY Cares Day

Kathryn Scavuzzo, Staff Reporter

On Saturday, October 18th, the organization, New York Cares, will be coming to MBHS to paint murals and help make the walls of the school beautiful. New York Cares came two years ago and helped paint the beautiful murals that are on the Ground Floor of the building where MBHS used to be. Students are encouraged to join in on Saturday to help paint the murals and bring any family and friends who want to come along. Jaclyn Goldzweig Panitz, a Senior at MBHS, said “the reason I want to participate in NY Cares Day is because of the awful color they have chosen in the classrooms and hallways alike.” Students will have the opportunity to work in different groups and conduct different jobs to complete the murals that will help them gain community service hours. Making these connections with other students and people at the event can help them gain other community service opportunities. A form has been sent out for students to sign up and it is an opportunity for students to showcase their school spirit and support for the MBHS community. By having this opportunity as well, students will be able to showcase talents in terms of painting and also organization.
