As the end of the year approaches, Prom is on a lot of seniors’ minds.

This year prom will be on June 7th, 2017 at 7:00pm and will be held at Penthouse 808. This location has a beautiful view of the Queensboro Bridge outside and has a romantic scenery. For this beautiful event, every boy and girl has to find their perfect outfit. Many seniors at MBHS are doing everything possible to find the perfect outfit to pop out during Prom.

According to MBHS students, finding the perfect dress is difficult. The process of getting a dress can take months . Michelle Rodriguez a senior that will be attending Prom explained that she “went shopping three times to find a dress. On the fourth trip, I finally found the perfect one at Macy’s.”

Michelle found it easy to find a dress compared to other girls that had to customize their dresses because they couldn’t find anything.

Makajah Marks, also a senior, said, “I started making my dress during the first week of February.”

For guys, it can be much easier to find a suit. Sam backner a senior stated  “It took me less than four hours to find a suit that will fit me and looks nice.”

Many girls have to prep before prom. They have to make appointments for their hair & makeup, find shoes, get accessories, get their nails done, and stay in budget. The biggest part for many families is to not spend a lot money for prom because college is coming up and they have to start saving for it. In an article about Prom from The Guardian, it was reported that, “on average, US families are spending as much as $919 on their teen’s prom expenses.”

When asked how much the person is willing to pay Brittney Manchoon a junior stated, “I don’t really want to spend more than $300 for everything because next year my parents have to pay for my college application and pay for my tuition.”

Budget plays a big role for many people, because many families don’t want to spend more then they calculated. They have other important things to pay for and pay for college.

Ms. Rogan, from senior committee, stated, “when I went to my prom, I didn’t spend a lot of money on it because I’m only going to use it for one night.” Many have different views on how much they should spend, but everyone tries to find something that will stand out and make them feel beautiful.
