Farewells and New Beginnings

Yousef Ahmad, Staff Reporter

The school year has come to an end. For freshman, they think they’re prepared for the life as a sophomore; they aren’t. For sophomores, they are lost, going to the awkward stage of juniors, so close to being a senior and yet, so far. For juniors, well they have no idea that this last year will be jam packed with annoying yet meaningful senior activities, which will be remembered forever. Finally for seniors, well we promised we wouldn’t cry… We lied. As the days slowly creep closer and closer to the end of this school year we think back to all the memories Millennium Brooklyn has held for us, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Yes, Millennium is a new school, yes teachers and faculty are still figuring out this whole high school teaching thing, yes some schools have better trips and such because they have experience, but no school is like Millennium. See this school is one of a kind, it started as an idea, sprouted into a work in progress, and now is sending students to Ivy League schools and phenomenal CUNYs and SUNYs. One can’t help but feel proud of how admirable we are as students and how persistent the faculty is to be able to start a school and have where it is today. Now I know, we seniors we are sad to leave high school, but also very happy. We feel conflicted.

However, Millennium has helped pave the way for an exciting adventure to our colleges, so don’t feel sad. Be prepared. Be proud. Be the phoenix you were meant to be. Senior Marion Mcdermott said, “I came to this school later than most of the other seniors, but I feel like i’ve made enough memories to make up all four years. My experience here and on the basketball team will be with me for the rest of my life.” Marion has been one of the all-stars of the Millennium Phoenixs, our school’s basketball team.

Another senior, Thomas Wegiel also spoke. “I never really clicked with this school, but man I’ve made some friends that I know I will still be speaking to in years to come. My advice to all the younger grades: just do the work, make the friends, go to field day, and make as much memories as possible, because high school will fly by.”

This is Yousef Ahmad of Millennium Brooklyn bidding you all at Millennium, a great farewell.
