Bernie, Back at It Again

The Democratic primary has been nothing short of historic, with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders leading a grassroots campaign that relies on donations from everyday people for the vast majority of its funds, rather than from large corporations and Super PACs. In fact, Bernie managed to raise more money during the month of February than his opponent, Hillary Clinton, and has yet again managed to smash records during the month of March, raising $43 million dollars.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has long been considered the front runner of the democratic primary, especially when taking into consideration her strong victories on Super Tuesday and on March 15th. Despite the various blows to his campaign, Sanders has still managed to make massive strides since the March 15th blowouts, with decisive victories in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington state, Utah, Idaho, and Democrats Abroad. His victories in the first three states listed managed to reduce Hillary’s delegate lead by 22.5%, which is astonishing, to say the least. His momentum continues to surge at a rapid pace, and now he has his sights set on the Empire State. Polls have recently indicated that he has managed to reduce Clinton’s lead in NY from a whooping +31 in favor of Clinton to a mere +12, all in the span of a month.

With Bernie’s visit to the Bronx bringing out thousands of people to see him, it’s safe to say that the race for NY will be an extremely tight and unrelenting battle. For Bernie Sanders, his entire campaign has hinged on the efforts of those who support him, much more so than any other candidate. His momentum will no doubt have an affect on the coming primary, and it wouldn’t be the first upset Bernie has managed to pull off. He was predicted to lose the Michigan primary, and yet, against all odds, he won in what was considered the greatest upset of election history in the United States. Who’s to say he can’t do it again in the state he was born and raised in?
