Fulfilling Community Service Obligations

Fulfilling Community Service Obligations

Asif Alli, Staff Reporter

As many of you already know, one of the many requirements as a student attending Millennium Brooklyn is community service. There are many students who have not yet met their community service requirements for this marking period. Each student has a responsibility to complete 10 hours of community service a semester. However, there are still many ways one can obtain their necessary hours.

One upcoming opportunity is the Intro to JavaScript Course, a course provided by KhanAcademy that teaches you how to code. Coding is responsible for the websites and applications we have access to on the internet. To earn your community service hours you must complete the course by February 23. If you have a KhanAcademy account you have most likely been invited by Mr. Faughnan.

Another upcoming community service opportunity for the second half of the spring semester is NY Cares Day. On April 18 students will have the opportunity to revitalize one of 70 parks in NYC. As a volunteer you will spend your day either painting murals or  restoring gardens through planting. For more information on this community service opportunity you can visit their site.

These are just two of many upcoming community service opportunities Millennium Brooklyn has to offer. For more information log onto the MBHS website through your school email.
