The 2-1 Millennium Phoenix went up against the 3-0 Pacesetters Thursday night in the John Jay campus’ second floor gym. Tensions were high between Pace and Millennium High School, known rivals with a 1-1 history.

At the very beginning of the game Millennium Manhattan senior Jeremy Santiago made, as Junior cheerleader Chloe Carter Daves called it, “a beautiful three pointer.” This shot sent the crowd into a scream of excitement, and riled up the team as well.

The second floor was alive as people got off their feet and cheered whenever the Phoenix made a shot, as well as making as much noise as possible to distract if the other team had a free throw.

It was a spectacular win in the eyes of Millennium fans and players. As John Saggese, one of the many seniors on the team from Millennium Manhattan, said “we played hard and we won.” The Phoenix ended the game 12 points up, according to PSAL, with a final score of 56-44. Additionally John Saggese said, “We came out strong and handed them the ‘business’ and it’s because this is a special group and we wouldn’t be the team we are without everyone’s effort.”
