Get Out and Get Involved

MBHS offers a variety of after school activities, not just in school but outside as well. Talk to Mr.Faughnan about some prospective after school activities for you. Some of these vast activities are Teen Empowerment Mural Apprenticeship (TEMA).  TEMA allows students to meet with artists on a weekly basis to create murals for public viewing. This program runs on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from October through May.

Futures and Options is a non-profit connecting high school students with substantive career-oriented, paid work opportunities for 9-15 hours per week after school. CHIPS is an internship program for students 16 years and older. CHIPS provides an excellent way to give time to those in need within our Brooklyn community. Opportunities include supporting their soup kitchen, donating clothing and administrative tasks. All of these are very great opportunities, and remember, everyone is required to have at least 5 hours of community service per marking period, and these are some great ways to accomplish that.

“It’s fun working with small kids, and teaching them english and math. It’s also great to work with kids who are new to the country, they’re really cute,” says senior Alyssa Montes, intern at P.S 321.
