It was Senior Day for the MBHS Baseball team on Tuesday, May 9th, when they played their final home game of the season against Ft. Hamilton High School.

The game ended 4-3 as Millennium managed to escape with a tight win. Evan Sinclair and George Mulcahy both got an RBI*, Tommy McGovern got a win on the mound and Jose Moronta got the save.

It was an exciting day at the Parade Grounds and emotions ran high for the seniors playing in their final regular season home game.

Senior Pitcher, Tommy McGovern had mixed feelings after the game. He said, “it felt great to win the game in such an important game vs Fort Hamilton, but it’s also sad to say that it was my last time playing on that field with my brothers.”

Senior First Baseman and Captain Daniel Luft spoke about what it meant to him to look back on the season and his playing time at Millennium.  He said, “I’m happy that I’ve been able to spend my time with these guys, everyone has become really close and they’re great guys. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be the captain and become a part of this team.”

Senior Day was a day of victory for Millennium baseball, and also a moment of reflection for the seniors playing their last home game.

To sum up what he would say to younger members of the team, McGovern stated, “enjoy every moment of it because it will fly by and you gain friends that will be family forever.”
