MBHS Dances In Black and White
March 23, 2017
On March 10th at 7- 10 pm, Millennium Brooklyn High school (MBHS) held a Black and White dance, which took place in the 2nd floor gymnasium. The attendees at the dance were a majority of lower house MBHS students. The students surrounded the dance floor with their friends in black and white attire, while also enjoying a photo booth, food, drinks and a variety of more activities to entertain themselves.
The original idea for a dance this year came from 3 10th grade students in student government, Claire, Lucy, and Sydney. Student government chose the theme, based off of a survey that was sent out to all of the MBHS students in December of 2016. Students chose from multiple themes that included Beach, Red Carpet, Masquerade, and Decade Dance. The majority picked Black and White, leading all of Student Government to start deciding decorations and designs for the dance. The money raised from the dance would go right back into the school funding, and it would be used by student government for future events.
Once the dance ended, many students had wanted to stay and have it go on for longer. Abigail Schneider, a ninth grader at MBHS, said that she “thought the dance was a lot of fun” due to the “energetic environment, with good music and a lot of people”. Additionally, Aregmi Amigon, a 12th grade student representative, stated that the “dance was really fun” and that she was “glad that student government was able to pull it off”. Both even stated that they’d attend another dance if it did happen again during this year.
