Social Justice Club: Green Is for Equal Citizenship

Samori Covington, Staff Reporter

This year marks the beginning of a new club, the Social Justice Club. Social Justice Club touches upon sensitive topics occurring in society.

“I wanted to join social justice club because I felt as though we were in a time where a lot of insensitivity was occurring. I knew social justice club would be a good place to share my voice and opinion” states senior Minori Kawano.

Social Justice club exposes issues that marginalize society and create round table discussions. When asked what made her want to be the leader of social justice club, Ms. Davidson said, “I wanted to be apart of a club where students felt welcomed and open to talk about controversial topics.”

On Tuesday February 28,  Social Justice Club hosted immigration day in order to raise awareness for the injustice that several immigrants in this country face. Numerous MBHS students and teachers wore the color green as a way to show support. Those interested in joining, SJC meets weekly on Thursdays at 3:15 in room 318. For any other questions, contact Ms. Davidson.
