Student Government Accepts Open Admissions

Student Government is a major part of the MBHS community. It is the voice of Millennium Brooklyn students. The job of the members of SGE is to help plan school events and make decisions, and heed the grievances and request of students. Student government members are nominated by their advisories, though recently, Student Government announced that they are openly accepting members into the committee. Mrs. Mcelveen shared her thoughts about the open admissions for SGE. She said, “I think it’s good. I think it brings in a new, lively energy to the club, and, by opening admissions, we’re having people who may not have known about student government in September… and it seems there is a high interest now so we want to capitalize.”

During the MBHS town hall, five new members of Student Government were announced in front of the 11th and 12th grade. Students Kevin Alexander, Jenna Dari, Jelani Felix, Dante George, and Mira Kraus of the 11th grade were announced. 11th Grade student body president Michael Williams stated “These are people who will represent student government and very well.” Along with the students announced at the town hall, three juniors and five sophomores were introduced into the Student Government body.
