On February 11, 2016, Kanye West debuted his highly anticipated new album, “The Life of Pablo,” as well as his new Season 3 clothing line. The following week on February 19, 2016, Adidas re-released the “Pirate Black” colorway of the YEEZY Boost 350 shoe.

The Adidas YEEZY Boost 350 retails at $200. These shoes are now on the market for more than triple the original value. With its resale value so high, these shoes aren’t easy to get. One must either use the Adidas confirmed app, wait on line, or enter a raffle.

According to Kicksonfire.com, the reasons that they’ll sell out so quickly is because of high resale value, retail price, the colorways, availability, and because Kanye West designed them. In Millennium Brooklyn High School, a senior named Lissa got a hold of the “Pirate Black” colorway of the YEEZY Boost 350. “It’s wavy but there’s too much hype around it, it’s just a regular tennis shoe but because it’s “YEEZY” it’s over hyped.” With hype excitement surrounding the shoe, Lissa decided to resell the shoe for five times its retail value. Although many people got the shoes, there were many disappointed.

Another student, Avery, wasn’t able to get a hold of the shoe, but “It doesn’t really matter to me, I have a pair of the 750’s and I’ll just wait for the next colorways to restock again.”
Kanye West being one of the most influential people of the 21st century, created his own clothing line with Adidas, and helped create a roar in the fashion industry and social media.
