Starting  11/16 , MBHS students are able to receive official ID cards thanks to a free government event.

Information about this event was given by Ms. Schwarzkopf, who stated, “It is an opportunity to give residents of New York aged 14 or older the opportunity to get a government-issued photo identification.” Those eligible will be able to receive their ID cards during Advisory and/or PE during 11/16, 11/23, and 11/30. Students and adults may also apply for their cards from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the library.
Many students are very excited to receive ID cards. Mohammed Uddin, a senior at MBHS, believes “It’s a beneficial thing for me to have. It lets me take advantage of the things available in NYC.”

Indeed, these ID cards have many uses, including being “an accepted form of identification for opening a bank account,” and sign-ups for “free one-year memberships at 33…museums, zoos, concert halls, and botanical gardens,”  according to nyc.gov. The card is available to all NYC residents that are able to establish their identity and residency, regardless of documentation or citizenship status.
