Welcoming the New Class of 2019

Millennium Brooklyn High School has lost its very first graduating class, however, students and faculty were rewarded with a new class of 9th graders, the Class of 2019.

Sometimes overlooked within the crowded halls of Millennium Brooklyn, the freshmen students will lay the foundations within the school and inevitably make MBHS history.

Most upperclassmen have heard Principal Kevin Conway say that it’s important we encourage freshmen to participate in school activities and stay engaged. Conway says to seniors, “Be a good example, the freshmen look up to you.”

According to 9th grader, Naia Garcia, MBHS is well beyond fulfilling that task. Garcia says, “My first impression of Millennium was a sense of relief because I can thrive and receive attention in a small environment.” Garcia was pleasantly surprised to find that upperclassmen were understanding and enthusiastic about answering her questions.

Back in the fall of 2011, the school assigned Ms. Wentz a freshman advisory. Four years later those students became MBHS’s first graduating class. This fall, when asked about adjusting to her new freshman advisory, Wentz said, “You put a bunch of lost 14 year olds that don’t know one another in a room and tell them to interact, it’s going to be awkward.” Wentz went on to say that, after time and patience, her old advisory grew into what felt like a family. “I think my new advisory is going to go through that same type of process” Wentz stated.
